Colour Picker lag/sticky

Category: QuestionsColour Picker lag/sticky

I just stated using Krita, I love it! My only issue is that when I press the Alt key to use theĀ  Colour Picker as I\’m working, it \’sticks\’ and fails to pick up the colour from the canvas that I clicked. This functionality works on my PC in both Photoshop and Clip Art Studio.

Are there any settings that I can adjust in Krita to try and make this work a little better?

Thanks:)

It’s the Ctrl key that’s pressed and held to activate the colour picker in krita while you’re working on an image. As far as I can see, you can’t change this to the Alt key using the keyboard shortcuts.

I went to Settings> Configure Krita > Canvas Input Settings and then in the Input Profile I chose ‘Photoshop Compatible’. This seemed to make the keyboard shortcuts the same as Photoshop, more or less. It definitely moved the Colour Picker shortcut from Ctrl to Alt.

This is strange because on my PC with Linux and Windows builds, the color picker is always activated by the Ctrl key no matter which profile I choose for keyboard shortcuts and the Alt key does nothing. Also, there is no keyboard shortcut for the ‘temporary’ colour picker, just for the tool.
As far as I can tell, you can’t have just the Ctrl key or the Alt key as listed shorcut keys (I’ve tried), they have to be used with other keys.
Are you saying that the Alt key acted to bring up the color picker when pressed after you selected Photoshop Compatible in the keyboard shortcut profiles? If so, that doesn’t happen for me.

Yes, I can just tap the Alt key and pick colours from the canvas I am working on.

Which operating system and which version of krita does this happen on?

James Ryman replied 1 week ago

Windows 7
Krita 4.1.7

(I was using Windows 10) This needs a krita developer to give advice/comment. The situation with Windows 7 is becoming more difficult. See: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=281&t=160145
